In April 1991 the American Kennel Club gave recognition to the Chinese Cresteds. Many exhibitors in the North Texas area began to form a regional club. The first attempt to start a Chinese Crested Club in Texas was in 1992 when an East Texas Group started a local club. This first attempt to organize was known as The Lone Star Chinese Crested Club. The LSCCC was not successful in obtaining AKC recognition and another group started organizing in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. This group was to become the Cowtown Chinese Crested Club (CCCC). The CCCC started holding Fun matches in the spring 1994 which also initiated its quest for AKC recognition. Starting with a membership of 25+, the CCCC grew and prospered.
A wonderful opportunity to show AKC and the fancy our readiness for shows came in 1995 when the American Chinese Crested Club was invited to Texas, where the CCCC hosted the first specialty west of the Mississippi River. The show was a wonderful success and is remembered fondly by members of the ACCC. The Cowtown Chinese Crested Club was the fourth regional club recognized by the American Kennel Club.
Our first licensed show was held on March 22, 2002. The second show followed on January 10, 2003 in conjunction with the Dallas/Fort Worth Toy Dog Club. The CCCC's third dog show was held in January 9, 2004, again in conjunction with the DFW Toy Dog Club. In June 2005, the CCCC was honored to host it's fourth and fifth shows as well as the ACCC National Specialty in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
